An inky dark color sets the stage for this thickly extracted Brunello. Oak-inspired shadings of clove, nutmeg and toast appear at first and are slowly followed by dark cherry, blackberry and currant. Despite all that color and aromatic intensity, the wine seems quite tame and lean in the mouth.
