Opening with competing scents of menthol and fruit preserves, this hits the palate with peppery spice, ample minerality and nicely restrained jamminess. It's more evidence that, even with such high alcohol levels, Zinfandel-makers are keeping an eye on balance, with enough acidity to ensure food-friendly sipping.
